Light, as simple as it may be, holds greater importance in your life than you think. Your mood can literally “light” up depending on the level and temperature of lighting you are exposed to. Specifically, the LED lights, are 80% more efficient compared to the traditional ones and illuminate better while producing lesser heat.

Whether you are working on a relaxing hobby or a desk project that needs strong attention, Workbench LED lights will assist you in seeing every detail in front of you. These flexible and eye-soothing LED lights are effortless to attach to your workstation and give greater visibility. The use of workbench light ranges from personal hobbies to industrial use and increases satisfaction as well as productivity.

Workbench LED lights are not only cost-efficient but also very easy to install on your workstation. They usually come in adjustable settings and focus light on your working area, resulting in less wastage of light and energy efficiency. Some are also portable and have features such as gooseneck adjustment and clamps to attach to a table or bench.

The problem with most workbench lights out there is the tradeoff between power consumption and longevity. Then there is the consideration of heat because if you are not comfortable in your workstation, it is likely that your work will be affected. The warranty a brand offers also contributes to your decision to choose the appropriate light.

Let us make your life easier by recommending some highly reliable Workbench LED light brands. Brightech has a versatile range of products based on usage. We also have Phive, Litever, and Albrillo which offer a great variety of merchandise for you to choose from.

1. Brightech LightView Pro LED Magnifying Floor Lamp

LightView Pro LED workbench lamp by Brightech features a 6,000K cool LED light. This lamp produces 540 lumens of light, meaning that it produces as much light as about the 50-watt incandescent light bulb. This will surely be enough for desk projects!

Brightech LightView Pro LED Magnifying Floor Lamp - Daylight Bright Full Spectrum Magnifier Lighted Glass Lens - Height Adjustable Gooseneck Standing Light - for Reading Task Craft Lighting - White

LED technology allows LightView Pro to consume only 9 watts. Brightech also designed the LED lighting to last about 20 years depending on the usage, so you can expect LightView PRO to work for quite a while. Brightech offers a 3-year warranty on their product as well.

The gooseneck of this workbench lamp can be adjusted to up to 55 inches of height, allowing you to put it on the floor if necessary. In addition, the neck swivels along its whole length.

A remarkable feature of Brightech LightView Pro is its hands-free magnifier. Its 3-diopter lens allows for up to 175% magnification, which will reduce strain on your eyes and will help you work on delicate projects.

2. Brightech LightView Pro Flex Magnifying Lamp

LightView Pro Flex is maybe a less versatile but no less interesting model of a workbench lamp.

Firstly, it delivers 570 lumens of light – equivalent to about a 50-watt incandescent bulb – with only 6 watts of energy consumption. It is as durable as LightView Pro thanks to the LED technology. Flex delivers the same 6,000K of cool color as well.

LightView Pro Flex doesn’t have an adjustable neck, but that isn’t an issue if you don’t need one, and if 13.5 inches of length of Flex’s neck is enough for you. Apart from that, the flexible gooseneck of Flex bends in any direction for you to easily adjust the direction of the light.

Another nice feature of Flex is that it comes with both a base and a clamp, so you will be able to install it anywhere you want.

Lastly, LightView Pro Flex comes with the same 1.75x magnifier as LightView Pro!

3. Brightech LightPRO LED Shop Light

Brightech’s previous workshop light models were quite compact, but LightPRO is a whole other deal. This 4-foot-long commercial-grade light produces 4,000 lumens of light at only 40 watts of power consumption. LightPRO delivers a bit warmer color temperature of 4,000K. Lastly, this light has a color rendering index (CRI) of 80.

LightPRO weighs only 4 pounds and measures 5 x 48 x 3 inches. The powerful LED lighting of this shop light allows for complete coverage of up to 6’ x 2.5’ benches, making LightPRO a great choice for larger projects.

Brightech LightPRO has a 65-inch long power cord with a 2-prong plug that works with 120-277V outlets. Apart from that, LightPRO operates in temperature ranges of -22F to 130F. Lastly, Brightech states that the LED lighting of LightPRO can work for approximately 20 years!

This ceiling light is mounted via the included two steel suspension cables.

Unlike the smaller lamps by Brightech that were great for small applications, LightPRO is created for those who need illumination throughout every inch of their workbenches.

4. Brightech Light View PRO LED

Yet another compact model by Brightech on our reviews of best light for the workbench. But this one is a little bit different!

Brightech LightView PRO - LED Magnifying Glass Desk Lamp for Close Work - Bright Magnifier Lighted Lens - Puzzle, Craft & Reading Light for Table Top Tasks - 2.25x Magnification

While Light View PRO features the same color temperature of 6,000K as the previous desktop-size models, its light output is quite a bit better at 650 lumens, which is as much light as about 60-watt incandescent bulbs produce. And all this at only 9 watts of power consumption!

Another difference between Light View PRO is that it has a swiveling arm neck instead of a gooseneck. Don’t worry, this doesn’t result in less flexibility as Light View PRO’s triple joint arm with 360-degree motion allows you to position the light wherever necessary.

Light View PRO also boasts a 5-inch diameter lens with 9 inches of focal range and up to 225% of magnification.

Lastly, Light View PRO has an adjustable aluminum clamp opening of up to 2.5 inches for installation on desks, workbenches, and other surfaces.

5. Phive LED Lamp

Phive LED lamp is designed for a wide range of tasks thanks to its high level of versatility.

Firstly, the Phive LED lamp has a 5,000K color temperature. We are not very sure how much lumens this lamp produces because Phive didn’t put such data in their product description, but we know that it delivers 1,100 lux at a distance of 40cm. Phive LED lamp also consumes 8 watts of power, meaning that it should deliver about 500 lumens.

What’s interesting about this LED lamp is that it features 4 dimming options – 10%, 30%, 70%, and 100% of illumination. And thanks to the inbuilt memory function, the lamp will remember the last set level of brightness, so you won’t have to readjust the illumination each time you turn the light on.

Phive LED lamp is installed via a clamp that supports up to 2.36-inch tabletops. For versatility, this LED lamp boasts a 180-degree swivel head, as well as a rotatable & adjustable arm and body.

6. Litever Under Cabinet LED Lighting Kit

Like the Brightech shop light we examined earlier, this lightning kit by Litever is great for large workbenches. However, Litever’s lighting is a bit different.

Under Cabinet LED Lighting Kit Plug in,6 pcs 12 Inches Cabinet Light Strips, 2000 Lumen, Super Bright, for Kitchen Cabinets Counter, Closet, Shelf Lights, 31W, Warm White (6 Bars Kit)

This LED lighting kit comes with 6 12-inch long LED strips. Each of the strips delivers 2,000 lumens yet consumes only 31 watts. The 3,000K color temperature of this kit is warmer compared to other LED lights we examined. In addition, this LED lighting kit features a CRI of over 80, meaning that Litever Under Cabinet LED lights will reveal the colors of objects rather faithfully.

The illumination of the lighting kit can be adjusted in the range of 0-100% via the included step-less switch dimmer.

Litever LED lighting kit is quite durable thanks to its great heat dissipation, which allows for about 30,000 hours of lifetime, depending on the usage.

This LED kit comes with adhesive pads, mounting clips, wire clips, and whatnot to allow for quick installation of the strips. This kit also comes with a 115cm (about 45-inch) power cord with a cuttable US plug for you to hardwire another plug if necessary.

7. Albrillo Under Cabinet LED Under Counter Lighting

If you liked Letiver’s LED lighting kit but its 6 strips were overkill for you, take a look at a 12-inch 3-piece kit by Albrillo.

Under Cabinet LED Lighting - Albrillo Dimmable Under Counter Lights for Kitchen, 12W 900 Lumens, Daylight Nature White Shelf Lighting, Pack of 3

This LED lighting kit is not as powerful as that of Litever and produces 900 lumens(300 x 3) at only 12 (3 x 4) watts of power consumption. The LED strips deliver cool 5,000-6,000K light for a more natural glow, so if you wanted a cool-light LED strip kit to keep yourself concentrated during your workbench projects, this pack is a pretty good choice!

Albrillo LED kit also comes with a 0-100% dimmer switch to allow you to adapt the lighting to your current working needs.

This LED lighting kit is installed in the same fashion as the Letiver LED kit, which could take some of your time. Albrillo included all the necessary accessories for a quick setup such as adhesive strips, mounting clips, etc.

Buying Guide

Don’t know what all those numbers and terms mean? Let’s examine the important features of lights for workbenches so you know which one is the right choice!

Color Temperature

While the color temperature can be a matter of taste for some, it can affect how you work. Color temperatures are divided into cool (over 5000 K) and warm (under 5000 K, especially 2700 – 3000 K) types. Cooler temperatures can help you increase your concentration, while warmer temperature allows for relaxation. You should probably go for cooler temperatures but don’t forget about your personal preferences. Most of the workbench lights you can find feature cooler color temperatures.

Color Rendering Index

Color rendering index (CRI) denotes how faithfully a light source reveals colors. The maximum CRI value is 100. The majority of manufacturers do not indicate the CRI of their lights, and you probably shouldn’t think about this feature too much. But if you need to see the colors as close as they are, look for a light with a higher CRI.

Dimming

Some lights come with a dimming function. Dimming allows you to set the light to different levels of brightness. Some lights have preset levels of brightness while others allow you to fully regulate the level of the light. If you know that you will need varying brightness, you should go for a light with a dimming feature.

Floor/Mountable VS Ceiling Lighting

As you noticed from the reviews, most of the lights for workbenches are either mounted on the desktop/floor or mounted to the ceiling with either adhesive or suspension cables. The lights that are mounted to the desktop or on the floor are much more mobile than ceiling models. On the other hand, ceiling lights are typically much more powerful, so if you need as much illumination as possible, you might want to go for a ceiling light kit.

Gooseneck VS Arm Neck

For some, the design of the neck of floor/mountable lights may be merely a matter of preference. However, there are some crucial differences between these two neck types.

Unless a gooseneck light has an adjustable height, as Brighttech LightView Pro LED does, you won’t be able to regulate the height of the light. But with arm necks, adjusting the height is rather easy: you just need to “fold” the neck to bring it lower and vice versa. Consult your needs to see whether you need a gooseneck or an arm-neck light.

Lumens & Watts

Lumen denotes the total quantity of emitted light (luminous flux)while watts indicate the amount of energy used. The brightness and power of an incandescent bulb have been usually estimated by its wattage, but because modern LED lights consume less energy yet deliver the same amount of light, their level of brightness is denoted with lumens. To produce 800 lumens of light, an incandescent bulb would consume 60 watts while an LED bulb would consume 12.

If you want a brighter light, pick the one with higher lumens. If you are familiar with old incandescent bulbs but not with LED, consult the below chart to see how many lumens you need to get the light level of an incandescent bulb.

Lumens

Power consumption (watts)

Incandescent

LED

200 25 3[7]
450 40 5–8
800 60 8–12
1,100 75 10–16
1,600 100 14–17
2,400 150 24-30[8]
3,100 200 32[9]
4,000 300 40.5

Magnifier

Some mountable/floor lights come with magnifiers to help you with working on delicate workpieces. If you plan to work on small items, you should get a light with a magnifier. Furthermore, such a light could be a great addition to a ceiling light that doesn’t have a magnifier!
